Windows Server 2008

Windows Server 2008 has now gone end of support. Do not let your infrastructure and applications run unprotected.

Ensure you are prepared for Windows Server 2008/R2 End of Support

If you are running a Windows Server 2008 / R2 server it is time to act now.

Organisations running Windows Server 2008 are leaving their operating system vulnerable to various risks. End of support will result in an end to:

  1. Free security updates on-premises.
  2. Non-security updates.
  3. Free support options.
  4. Online technical content update.

Your Options

Organisations running Windows Server 2008 will have two options to help you upgrade and adopt innovative technologies.

  1. Upgrade on-premises and stay protected.
  • One option is to upgrade to Windows Server 2019. This will provide you with built-in security and container support. Migrating to Windows Server 2019 will allow you to evolve your datacenter infrastructure to achieve greater efficiency and security.
  1. Migrate and avail of the Azure Hybrid Use Benefit programme.
  • Migrate your Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2 workloads to Azure and receive three additional years of Extended Security Updates at no additional charge. You can then upgrade to a current version when ready. Use existing licenses and save on Azure Virtual Machines with Azure Hybrid Benefit and Reserved Instances.
  • Microsoft has recommended that those who need to continue using Windows Server 2008 / R2 products and services should migrate their servers to Microsoft Azure.

Why Migrate to Microsoft Azure

By migrating your on-premises Windows Server 2008 servers to Azure, you can continue to run them on virtual machines. Moving to Azure will help you become more compliant with legislation such as GDPR and improve security.

Migrate your Windows Server to Azure to boost security, cost savings and accelerate innovation.

  1. Security – Azure offers some of the most advanced security technology, which will help your organisation work proactively, as you will be able to identify and respond to evolving security threats.
  2. Cost Savings –Once you have migrated to Azure you can reduce your infrastructure costs as a result of free extended security updates.
  3. Modernise and innovate – Moving to Azure can help you to modernise your applications and increase innovation within your organisation.
