- New survey commissioned by Auxilion reveals more than a third of IT leaders plan on leaving role within two years.
- 51% of IT leaders will leave their current role if organisation fails to invest in emerging tech.
Sheffield, UK. 11 April 2024 - UK businesses are being warned about the possibility of an IT leader ‘Merry Go Round’ after a new survey by Auxilion, a leading provider of digitally transformative IT services and solutions, revealed that more than a third (39%) of IT leaders plan on leaving their current role within the next two years.
According to the survey, which was conducted by Censuswide and involved 100 IT decision makers in UK enterprises with 250+ employees, more than one in four (28%) IT leaders changed roles in 2023, and 35% have interviewed for another job in the last six months.
The survey also revealed that over half (51%) of IT leaders would leave their current position if their organisation failed to invest in emerging technologies like AI.
“The movement of senior decision makers, and especially in business critical roles like IT, creates huge demand and pressure on organisations. Such gaps also have a wider impact in terms of their ability to maintain operations, complete projects and deliver services,” said Niamh Cray, Chief People Officer, Auxilion. “When it comes to talent and recruitment, we believe businesses should adopt a hybrid approach where they incorporate contractors and resourcing partners. A more flexible model like this means organisations can move swiftly to plug any skills gaps that arise and minimise disruption.”
“This data also sends a clear message to business leaders that a lack of investment in emerging technologies could see you lose talent across the organisation, which can be very disruptive and damaging. Businesses need to embrace technology and leverage its capabilities to stimulate growth.”
The survey was commissioned in partnership with Hewlett Packard Enterprise, the global edge-to-cloud company.
